From Business to Academia

Introduction

Before 2019, he served as Representative Director and Executive Officer at private English education companies, contributing to global talent development through ESP consulting for a wide range of organizations.

Current Focus

His expertise includes ESP and the development and assessment of active learning-based curricula. Through practices such as MUN, OISC, and PBL, he explores the Meeting-Style Classroom and Willingness to Communicate, while also examining what kinds of AI use are most beneficial for learners within that process.

Academic Roles

In addition to his role as Associate Professor at Aichi Institute of Technology, he has served as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Project-based English Program at Ritsumeikan University since April 2025. He also taught in the GLIP program at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies from October 2022 to March 2025.

Scope of Education and Research

Curriculum Design

Course and curriculum design integrating university English, PBL, ESP, and CLIL for meaningful, practice-oriented learning outcomes.

Research Focus

English education, Meeting Competency, Operational English Proficiency (OEP: English use supported by ICT and related tools), the use of generative AI in education, and international collaborative learning.

Educational Practice

Educational practice developed through course design, materials development, international exchange initiatives, and their implementation within university settings.

Published “Current State and Challenges of the English Curriculum for the General Education Program” and began teaching in the Project-based English Program at Ritsumeikan University.

Published work on the meeting-style classroom approach and collaborative research on online international conferences.

Continued active learning research in MUN training and practice-based work around PBL and English poster presentations.

Active as Faculty Advisor for Japan University English Model United Nations and as Cofounder / Advisor for the Online International Student Conference.
